You need at least 3 notes or it won't do anything.
The format must be that you start with the exercise name first. You can have two words for the name but they must have a dash (-) or an underscore (_) to show the space between them. For example, a name of Yaman-exercise or Yaman_exercise is OK, but two separate words is not. Technically, this is because the first "token", with no spaces, is seen as the exercise name, and everything after that first item is seen as a note.
Pressing the buttons with the raga or scale names will be a good example on how to enter the notes yourself for new scales. Check out Bilawal for a simple example.
One period next to a note means one dot under the note, two periods mean two dots. For a dot above the note use a single quote, and for two dots use two single quotes.
After the name, you have 4 or more notes. See the long example button on how to make lower and higher notes. You will see a single dot for one lower octave down, and this supports two dots for the ati Mandra octave below that. This is useful for sitar players or adventurous sarod players.
